An assessment and diagnosis of Autististic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may be made for some children with specific and significant social communication difficulties. Children with ASD have all three areas of difficulty named above, known as a triad of impairments.<\/p>\n<p>Within ASD, Autism is defined as a triad of impairments where all these 3 key areas above are present.  The triad of impairments also apply to Asperger\u2019s Syndrome (Link to National Autistic Society). Children with ASD present us with a range of difficulties which will vary within each child e.g. many children will find change of activities and their environment difficult, preferring routines; language and conversations can be confusing, loud and muddled in their minds; many children with ASD find it difficult to make friends and play together with other children. Others are sensitive to touch or noise and some may become obsessive about specific objects or games. Some children with ASD have also been identified to have exceptional talents e.g. musical or artistic or numerical skills. <\/p>\n<p>At Puzzle we see every child as unique and will assess their strengths, difficulties and their needs as individuals.
